A Whole Lot of........"Bull"
Chad Johnson....uh ....Ochocinco.....will stop at nothing to get his name in the news.
The recent bull-riding act.....was just that....a lot of "bull"...
From the Atlanta Journal Constitution:
NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco rode a bull for 1.5 seconds during intermission of a professional bull riding event on Saturday at the Gwinnett Arena.
“I was mad that I couldn’t ride it out of the chute,” said Ochocinco, who received a $10,000 appearance fee.
Ochocinco, who has been working out in Atlanta and running the track at the Marist School, started tweeting about riding a bull on twitter.com recently. Professional Bull Riders president Sean Gleason issued him a challenge.
Ochocinco practiced riding a bull on Friday and Saturday with Ty Murray, a nine-time world champion and Professional Bull Riding co-founder.
“A comparison would be a guy coming to you and saying I only want to ski one run, but I want to go to the top of the French Alps and do a double diamond,” Murray said.
Ochocinco was clearly nervous before his ride. He rose up off the bull twice before giving Murray the thumbs up signal to open the chute.
“I knew I was in over my head,” Ochocinco said.
Murray gave Ochocinco a crash course on bull riding.
“Mainly, what I was trying to do was show him chute protection and chute safety,” Murray said. “We practiced several crash scenarios today. He’s a phenomenal athlete. He was very easy to teach because he is so athletic.”
After getting thrown, Ochocinco rolled to his left like he getting away from an NFL linebacker.
“I’m sure the NFL is pissed, but I don’t follow their rules anyway,” Ochocinco said.
The PBR folks were delighted with the extra attention.
“It’s been unbelievable,” Gleason said. “At the end of the day, we’ve been in major newspapers for the last five days. It’s just been phenomenal, the national exposure for a sport that really needs it. We need more people to know what we do.”

This Snow Stuff......is no Longer Fun......
Enough already......
So......the "White Christmas" was a novelty.....beautiful.....and fun.
But this latest blast .......8 to 10 inches....is trying our patience .
On I-285 in the ATL........18 wheelers.......about 300 strong....were stuck for over 24 hours....waiting for the Georgia DOT to clear the ice and snow.
And ..."Yours Truly" ....has been stuck at home........since Sunday. I'm going "stir crazy"!
I have seen one.......1.........snow plow truck. I don't own a snow shovel....
The good news is we didn't lose satellite or power. And we have food.
But.........if I wanted this much snow......I would have stayed in upstate New York!
And now the Hawks game has just been canceled.

Not Dead......Not Yet.......Not Ever...
The "Dirty Birds" lost by 3 points....to the defending Words Champs last night....
And while the entire ATL hung their collective heads in shame....We beg to disagree.
This game could have gone either way. This defense held these Saints to 17 points.
We think they're ready to make a play-off run....

FLOWERY BRANCH – For the first time in more than 10 weeks, it was the day after a Falcons’ loss Tuesday.
Cleansing breath.
Who knew this season would bring about such an adjustment period?
As you look to get grounded again, here’s your focal point: A three-point loss to the defending Super Bowl champions who probably were just a little more desperate for a victory probably doesn’t constitute a collapse. Nor does it alter the power structure in the NFL’s playoff field.
As coach Mike Smith said again Tuesday, the day after a 17-14 loss to New Orleans: “There’s 15 other teams [in the NFC] who would love to trade places with us,” and I think we can assume that includes the next opponent, Carolina (2-13).
Truth is, we know now pretty much what we knew before Monday’s loss. The Falcons and Saints are dead even. It’s not bad to be dead even with the defending champions. Also, Philadelphia, Chicago, Green Bay are all conference threats to get to the Super Bowl — not a revelation. And in games when Michael Turner (2.8 yards per carry) can’t run, the Falcons’ offense tends to shut down.
But the loss to the Saints wasn’t a horrible sign for the future. The Falcons can still achieve all of their regular-season goals — NFC South title, first-round bye, No. 1 seed — just by beating Carolina, and that game plan usually entails little more than having a pulse.
In fact, notwithstanding Smith’s position that “nothing good ever comes from losing,” there were some fairly significant positives. Some of the areas that we questioned about this team might have been answered, particularly on defense. Offense was a problem Monday, but occasional criticism of offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey notwithstanding, scoring generally hasn’t been the problem this season (the Falcons are fifth in points: 25.5).
Sounds strange. But I feel better about this team now than I did before the New Orleans game.
Consider:
– Despite the Saints’ 90-yard touchdown drive in the final minutes Monday, the Falcons’ secondary has been strong. They make plays. Pass defense figured to be an issue this season. But with the meteoric rise of Brent Grimes and the short learning curve of safety William Moore, it’s now a strength. Surprisingly, the biggest question mark is $57 million cornerback Dunta Robinson. Here’s your stat of the year: Four linemen — John Abraham, Chauncey Davis, Jonathan Babineaux, Kroy Biermann — each have more interceptions (1) than Robinson (0). (Smith said Robinson is “coming along” after missing training camp with a hamstring strain. Can you still be “coming along” in Week 16?)
– The pass rush pressured New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees all game (though he was sacked only once because of eight missed opportunities, when pass rushers overran him). Abraham and Babineaux in particular have been strong. Abraham has 13 sacks, the second-highest total of his career. There is no better sign for the Falcons’ postseason fortunes than Abraham.
– Monday’s game was extremely winnable. Two Falcons fumbles led to one New Orleans touchdown and prevented an Atlanta touchdown. Michael Jenkins dropped a touchdown pass (albeit, drawing a pass-interference penalty in process).
Finally, there was the decision of coach Mike Smith to punt on fourth-and-six with 2:52 left, leading to the Saints running out the clock. Smith didn’t second-guess himself on that Tuesday, though he acknowledged that the Falcons’ defense (which allowed the Saints to get two first downs and run out the clock) might have been fatigued in that 90-yard drive: “We ended up playing 75 snaps on defense, and that’s a lot of snaps. In the average game, you’re playing 60.”
Some skeptics believed the Saints would expose the Falcons. They didn’t. Monday’s loss changes nothing. This team looks ready to take the next step.

This Weather is..."Frightful"
Frozen Roads Cause 1000+ Wrecks in Metro Atlanta
Yes......yours truly was caught up in this mess....
Early this mourning......had to go to Tennessee.....Chattanooga to be exact.
I counted at least 35 cars....people left....on the side of I75 ....north of the ATL.
Lucky for me......I came through with no direct hits.....no accidents.
Just icy roads.....and my head on a swivel......avoiding the other idiots.
Don't we just love the south?

Game time....7:30 pm.
7:30 pm......and there's nobody in the arena....... a third filled if that.
Why?
Then.......with about 3 minutes left in the 1st half.......the seats are filled.
Again.....why?
Is Atlanta on ..."CPT" (colored people time)?

A Gutless....Effort!!!
Last night....at Philips Arena....The Atlanta Hawks lost to the Boston Celtics, 99-76....in a game that was not nearly that close.
Gutless......pitiful......lackluster......embarrassing.
You pick the adjective or adverb. At the end of the 1st quarter it was 39-13, Boston. At the end of 3.....the Hawks trailed, 85-56.
And the Celtics did this with their best player, Rajon Rondo, sitting on the bench nursing a hamstring. His replacement..... Nate Robinson (all 5' 9") ran circles around Hawk defenders and scored 16 points while dishing out 10 assists.
And the Hawks?
Joe Johnson????.....the highest paid player in the league this year.....6 points. For the entire game.
This team is a dumpster fire. We called it the moment the Hawks went cheap....and promoted Larry Drew from assistant to head coach. From being these guys big brother...to now....their father.
It does not work ....at this level. These players don't fear him....or heed him.
Last night.....the Hawks needed a swift kick in the ass from a strong head coach.
Instead......they got this......from Drew:
“Very embarrassing. Very, very embarrassing. Very embarrassing. If I had to sum it up in one word: Embarrassing.”
Mark Bradley of the AJC had this to say, " It took the Hawks six years to stop listening to Mike Woodson. It has taken one month for them to tune out his successor. To say the effort the Hawks gave against the Boston Celtics on Monday night was amateurish is to discredit the concept of amateurism and to distort the meaning of “effort.”

What the problem is?
An assistant coach.....made a "choke" sign....It was caught on tape....and all hell is breaking loose.
Again......what the problem is?
In a 31-31 overtime game....Georgia Defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, gave a choke sign to Florida's field goal kicker....
Reading his lips....he said, "You're gonna f*#ing....choke.
What the problem is?

Replay.....Is Alive & Well......in MLB
Upon further review, it’s a homer, Braves win
ATLANTA (AP)—Brian McCann(notes) hit a game-winning homer with help from video replay, giving the Atlanta Braves a stunning 7-6 victory over the Florida Marlins on Sunday.Pinch-hitter Matt Diaz(notes) tied the game with a two-run homer off Leo Nunez(notes) (4-3) after Brooks Conrad(notes) led off the ninth with a walk. Nunez retired the next two hitters, then McCann drove a 1-2 pitch toward the wall in right.
The ball bounced back onto the field, and the umpires initially ruled it was still in play. McCann stopped at second and began arguing that he should have more than a double.
The umpires conferred, then headed toward the Florida dugout to look at a replay which clearly showed the ball struck the top of the wall—right over McCann’s name on an auxiliary scoreboard—and went over. It ricocheted back onto the field off a back wall.
Crew chief Tim McClelland returned to the field, pointed toward McCann with a slight grin—and gave the universal signal for homer. The review took a relatively quick 1 minute, 26 seconds.
Most of the Braves players were already on the field, ready to celebrate while the umpires looked at the replay. When McClelland twirled his right index finger, McCann finished his triumphant jog around the bases, slamming down his helmet before he touched home and disappeared into the arms of his teammates.
The NL East-leading Braves overcame a 6-1 deficit, scoring three runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth for a victory they will surely remember if they hold on for their first division title since 2005.
